Every runner has a story. What we experience out there on the trails shapes who we are as a person and a runner. The injuries and scars we carry, both on the inside and the outside, help to define us through our blemishes and imbalances. When we come to our yoga mats we often find ourselves challenged by these imperfections.
Yoga gives us the opportunity to face these challenges to help us grow and develop into better runners (and better people). |
My Running Story...
I started road running and racing in the UK in 2000 and ran my first marathon (London) in 2001 with my friend and coach "Algie".
I moved back to New Zealand in 2004, and since then I have had three children, run two ultra-marathons, five more marathons, lots of half marathons, 10kms, 5kms and various off-road races. Find out more about my running journey here. |
Currently, my main focus is on trail running, around the half marathon distance and I also enjoy mountain biking and Adventure Racing.
I am lucky enough to live in Rotorua, New Zealand and trains on the beautiful forest trails in that area. I have been a member of Lake City Athletic Club for a number of years and I am mentored by local running coach, Kim Stevenson.

My Yoga Story...
I began attending yoga classes in 2006 when I was pregnant with my oldest son, and I have continued to practice yoga regularly ever since. Having studied Engineering at the University of Canterbury, my "scientific mind" became more and more interested in understanding "how yoga worked" and so in 2012, I decided to do my yoga teacher training to increase my knowledge and understanding of yoga.
I completed my yoga teacher training in 2014 through the International Yoga Teachers Association (NZ). I am still fascinated by learning about "how yoga works" and I have continued training to develop my knowledge and experience of yoga. I have been teaching yoga classes since 2013 and this allows me to share what I have learnt through my training and personal experience in both running and yoga. Find out more about my yoga journey here.
I started RunYoga in 2016 to allow me to focus on teaching yoga for runners and to share my journey and passion for yoga and running with others.
